In this tranquil corner of Fife there are also the quaint fishing ports of Crail, Anstruther and Pittenweem, from where there are superb coastal walks linking one village to the other along the cliff paths or across sandy beaches. Remember the famous beach scene in the film Chariots of Fire? That was filmed in St Andrews. In short, Rufflets has made its mark as the perfect place for relaxing country break. Family owned and managed since the 1950's, Rufflets today is rated amongst the very top hotels in Scotland, which makes sense given its beautiful grounds and gardens, luxurious bedrooms, excellent cuisine combined with a laid back and relaxed atmosphere. There are daily-changing menus, which include the very best of modern Scottish cuisine. The Kitchen Garden is the starting point for dishes using fresh seafood from East Neuk of Fife markets, as well as local beef and lamb. Two rooms not be missed are the exquisite Gilroy Suite and the Four poster Turret Room in the main house. Rufflets is not a stuffy place and it really is great for families. So much so, there is the Family Suite in the East Lodge with two bedrooms, and they have worked out fantastic menus for kids including Mermaid Fish Pie and Banana Berry Ice-Cream with Honey Oat Bites. All in all, what a great place for country break or golfing holiday filled with Scottish charm.
