Castle comforts amidst the romance of an ancient deer forest
Originally called Castle Lodge, the Bath Lodge Hotel has all the appearance of a pocket-sized medieval castle, from its impressive stone structure, portcullis and heraldic shields right up to the battlements and towers above. In...More About Bath Lodge Hotel reality, the Lodge was built between 1806 and 1813 as the principal of six gate lodges to the Farleigh estate. The building boasts the original oak beams, natural masonry, log-burning fireplace and mullioned windows. All the rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard, with elegant antique furniture happily co-existing with contemporary comforts and facilities. The original lodge rooms benefit from four-poster or brass bedsteads, showers in the turrets and balconies. Outside, a bubbling stream cascades through the garden clandestinely merging into the ancient deer forest where kings and barons once hunted - all very romantic! Situated only seven miles outside Bath, the hotel is also ideally located for visiting the heritage sites of Stonehenge, Longleat, Stourhead and Wells, with its magnificent cathedral, as well as many other area attractions. That is why Bath Lodge likes to set its guests up for the day with an excellent breakfast. In the evening, the romantic and relaxed atmosphere provides the perfect end to the day.
