Mystical history set in an award-winning garden

Ard na Sidhe translates as 'the Hill of the Fairies'. This 18-bedroom mansion hotel on the edge of Caragh Lake has the modern facilities, high cuisine and service you would expect from Killarney Hotels, one of Ireland's leading... More About Ard na Sidhe leisure groups - yet it also has a mystic history that reaches deep into the country's distant and magical past. Lady Gordon, a lady of titled Irish lineage, built the house in 1913. The building is long, low and gabled, with casement windows set in stone mullions, 'and never', said Lady Gordon, 'looked new'. The ghost of her ancestor, Bess Stokes, is said to haunt the grounds, but it was 'The Hill of the Fairies' long before Bess. The house fits harmoniously into superbly romantic scenery beside Ireland's highest mountain, McGillicuddy's Reeks. All around is magnificently beautiful countryside for fishing, cycling and boating on the lakes, and several of the country's finest golf courses are within an easy and delightful drive away - or take a stroll in the hotel's own award-winning garden. At the Ard na Sidhe, you're within easy reach of the full range of leisure and historical touring attractions that have made Killarney one of the best-loved places in the world - and there is an extra special something in the unique and mystical history of The Hill of the Fairies.
