An intriguing history of Aberdeen's shiping and fishing past.
Currently undergoing extensive refurbishments the exhibitions will highlight the drama of the North Sea industries: offshore oil, fishing and shipping. The emphasis will be on the "real thing" utilising the vast scope of the museum's fine collections of models, paintings and objects. A new dimension will be available to all visitors through extensive use of multi-media displays, including touch-screen consoles, computer visual databases, audio visual theatre and hands-on exhibits. A first class shop will provide a range of souvenirs with a distinctly nautical flavour while the new "Lighthouse Caf‚" will be an attraction in itself. Re-opening May 1997.
